Bembridge v Brading Res
After 28 years at Brading, Steve Lawton
will be stepping down at the end of this season. “I’ve loved every minute and
consider it an honour to have been given opportunity to manage
this fantastic club. When I came as a player all those years ago
I never expected to have had the great times we’ve had.
Those that know me know what huge commitments I have outside of
football and I can’t commit the time and effort that the club
deserves. I will give everything between now and the end
of the season and I’m fully committed to helping the club find a
new manager. We have a fantastic committee, a superb pitch and
facilities. Again we have had to rebuild the side but
there is a good bunch of players there and if they stick
together and keep working I’m sure they will be successful over
the coming years. Special thanks must go to Mark Cook - top
bloke and a great friend - he is also stepping down with me. And the players - some have shown
incredible loyalty to me over the years - Valer, Sam Knowles ,
Scott Lawson have pretty much been with me my whole time as a
manager. In recent years Todd Connor, Jacob Treagus and Aaron
Bennett have stayed when offers came in to go.
It is time to spend more quality time with
my incredibly supportive wife and my two amazing grandkids “
