Hants Trophy 4th Round

Brading 3

Frimley 0

A very good first half performance set the foundation for a deserved win at Cowes College today.
With a very strong wind blowing straight down the pitch it was always going to be a strange game.
Both sides played better against the wind ....the difference was we took out chances where as Frimley came up against an inspired Will Hunt.
Ryan Oatley made his first appearance of the season and enjoyed a very good game in the middle of the back four.
It was his superb long pass that found Aaron Burford who finished superbly to put us 1-0 up.
To be fair we probably could have and should have been 3 up by then !!
Chances came and went as we played some excellent football.
We restricted our visitors to long range efforts , none of which hit the target !
We made it 2-0 when Josh Younie’s superb corner was headed on by Luke Hitchcox
and the final finish was applied by Burf.

Half time 2-0.

The second half we just never got going as the wind seemed to pick up more and try as we did just couldn’t get the rhythm going.
Last 20 Minutes the opposition threw men forward but on several occasions couldn’t get the better of Hunty.
He produced three stunning saves in the space of 2 minutes the best of which was a close range strike which he somehow pushed onto the post.

We created a couple more chances as the game started to get stretched.
Josh had a long range effort well saved by the keeper who then decided to come up for a corner !
It was cleared for a throw in ....which he took and with him well in our half,
Ryan struck the ball from the edge of our box the length of the pitch into the empty net.

We will play better but in cup games it’s all about getting through to the next round and what a game we have in the 1/4 final......Hosting W&B !
Mom today was a strange one - first half we were so dominant but the second half we needed Hunty and he came up with the goods.

Oats was superb in the heart of the defence as was Hitch, Knowlsey and Josh.
The midfield worked hard and the quality of the front three was always there to see.

Team- Hunt, Sam Knowles, Ryan Oatley, Luke Hitchcox, Josh Younie, James Phipps, Harris Payne, Jordan Cook, Oliver Wilson, Dan Vale, Aaron Burford. Subs - Jake Younie, Matt Bennett and Caymen Collins ( all used).
